SEN 1: Principles of inclusion 

A series of linked sessions that can be accessed separately or as a series.  

SUITABLE FOR: Early Years SENCOs and all those interested in supporting young children with special needs.

COURSE INFORMATION: This session will provide a definition for SEN and what it means in practice. There will be an overview of what 'normal' development looks like and how triggers for concern can be identified. The importance of inclusive practice will be explored by reflecting on own practice and setting environments, with a focus on the individual not the need. 

COURSE OBJECTIVESKnow the definition of SEN; identify at least 3 triggers for SEN; know why early identification and intervention are important; identify at least 3 reasons for inclusion; identify at least 3 things that makes a setting feel inclusive; identify 3 changes that you will make in the setting to promote best practice for SEN and inclusion. 

COURSE AIM: To understand SEN in the early years and the principles of inclusion.
