Course Information: During the session we will

  • Define SEND and inclusive approaches and attitudes
  • Explore the statutory SEND Code of Practice and responsibilities in early years settings
  • Early identification and intervention
  • Learn about the different aspects of the graduated approach (assess, plan do, review)
  • Review SEND policies and procedure/processes
  • Explore some practical strategies for supporting the play and learning of children with SEND

It would be helpful for attendees to have a copy of their SEND policy with them during the training.

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING - The graduated approach training will be focused on national processes, as it will be exploring the country wide statutory requirements. Many aspects explored will be the same everywhere, such as inclusive practice, the processes to follow and strategies to support learning.  Please note the paperwork used by each setting will be specific to local authorities and the tutor will not be familiar with each local authority paperwork, even though these should be in line with national requirements. Therefore please ensure you are happy with this before booking a place on the course.
